Getting to the Quitumbe Bus Terminal

The first step is to travel to the Quitumbe Bus Terminal, located in the southern part of Quito. This terminal is the main departure point for interprovincial buses heading toward southern Ecuador and the Amazon region.

• Taxi (yellow taxi or ride-hailing apps): Travel time varies depending on your starting point. From a central area of the city, the trip takes approximately 40 to 60 minutes, with an estimated cost of USD 10 to 20. This is the most direct and safest option.

• Quito Underground Metro: This is the fastest and most economical option. Traveling from the northern to the southern end of the city takes approximately 45 minutes, with a fare of USD 0.45. The final southern station, Quitumbe, has direct access to the bus terminal.

Quito – Baños de Agua Santa Route

This journey takes approximately 3 to 4 hours and follows the Pan-American Highway South, a fully paved road that connects several cities along the way, including Latacunga, Ambato, Pelileo, and Patate. The approximate fare is USD 5 per person.
